I am sorry to read of your angst. I consider myself lucky to have a job I adore, owning the roof over my head, 2 kids I adore and a conscience to not accept everything around me as inevitable.

I keep saying until I'm a strange colour in the face that unless and until American loses its obsession with Exceptionalism and guns, nothing will change: not the wars and invasions, the control and hegemony over smaller nations, the monetary blackmail of other nations via the USD, the political arm-twisting or the support of questionable régimes.

While you are struggling, I know it's a mire which can appear to subsume you, but you do have friends - physical as well as 'ethereal' (i.e. via the net) who agree with you, support you and will try to help as a 'hive mind', should you so wish. You're not alone in your battle.

Australia is a long way off, but from here, I wish you more strength, more energy to cope with where you are, and also to realise you alone cannot solve the ills of the nation in which you live. However, you plus many like-minded, good people can and will. Don't feel too despondent. There are so many great progressive people there, and as a collective, you all will do great things.
