Interesting sociological piece.

Here in Australia, a very young white country, in 1855, the good (white) denizens of Emerald Hill (a suburb near the city, now called "South Melbourne") complained to the authorities about the dreadful smells coming from the Chinese temple and welfare centre. That smell now is called "Chinese cuisine", loved the world-over.

Cultural mores have a racist hierarchy and racism is the worst cause of this wilful ignorance and intolerance. Sadly I cannot see bridges built between the Palestinians and their colonial adversaries any time soon. Yes, the issue is complex (not to mention ensuring Bibi stays out of jail), but with an Israeli cultural supremacist view of the region, peace is doomed.

Sadly, I think there is no short-term solution.
