The cognitive dissonance is astonishing. The mantra "Guns don't kill, people do" is the most disingenuous, delusional and evil piece of sophistry the US supports, almost across the political spectrum. Even sane Dem supporters I know still maintain firearms are an important part of US life. In the face of empirical evidence, what part of "dead" does the citizenry of the USA not understand in terms of firearms and bearing arms? I don't bother trying to rationalise this any more. I'm just glad my kids working in the US hate guns and will never be part of that diseased "culture".
